Hi, my name is Lisa, and this is the story of how Treats and Boards began. Thank you for taking a moment to read it—I truly hope you enjoy visiting our shop.
For many years I worked in the corporate business world, building my career, learning new skills, and mentoring others along the way. As time passed, I began thinking more about what the next chapter of my life might look like. One simple question kept coming back to me:
What do I love doing so much that I would never get tired of it?
The answer came quickly—finding the perfect gift for someone I care about.
I have always loved the process of searching for thoughtful gifts and then watching the moment when someone opens it and realizes you truly know them. In fact, on holidays I’m usually the first one awake—not because I’m excited to open my own gifts, but because I can’t wait to see the smiles on my family’s faces when they open theirs. For me, the joy has always been in giving.
Eventually I realized I wanted to share that feeling with others beyond my family and friends. One evening the idea became clear: I could create an online shop filled with the kinds of products I personally love to give and receive. And that’s how Treats and Boards was born.
Where My Love for Fine Treats Began
My appreciation for quality treats started early in life. My family was deeply rooted in the food and retail business, and both of my grandmothers were incredible cooks and bakers who made nearly everything from scratch. Their kitchens were always filled with warmth, care, and the comfort that comes from homemade food.
My aunts also introduced me to the joy of visiting small, local chocolate shops in search of the best confections. Once you experience handcrafted chocolate made with quality ingredients, you quickly realize that all chocolate is not created equal. Those early experiences shaped my belief that when you give someone something sweet, it should be something truly special.
I’ve always believed that if you’re going to treat yourself—or someone you love—it should be an experience worth savoring.
A Family Tradition of Craftsmanship
As I started my own family, that appreciation for quality naturally passed on to my children. Both my son and daughter worked for a local chocolatier, in their teenage years, where they learned firsthand about small-batch production, premium ingredients, and the craftsmanship that goes into making truly great chocolate.
Today they have each built their own creative businesses.
My son, Nicola trained in Italy as a Chef and started his own business several years ago. (www.nicolasmarketplace.com). I’m proud to feature some of his products through Treats and Boards like his own handmade biscotti, not your typical biscotti.
My daughter, Jen, an artist, creates beautifully engraved wood boards and takes her original artwork like EllaCake and CottonCow designs to products that are both practical and meaningful such as nightlights, clothing, keychains, home décor and more. Whether used for entertaining or displayed in the home, they often spark conversation, laughter, and connection around the table. (www.facebook.com/jennyscanvasllc)
Our Mission
Treats and Boards was created with a simple purpose:
to share thoughtful, high-quality gifts that bring warmth, comfort, and joy.
Every product in our shop is something I would proudly give to my own family and friends—whether it’s fine chocolate, sweet treats, or handcrafted items created by talented artists and small businesses.
My hope is that every package you receive from Treats and Boards brings a smile to someone’s face—whether that someone is a loved one or even yourself.
This chapter of my life is about celebrating craftsmanship, supporting artisans, and spreading a little more joy through thoughtful gifting.
And I’m so grateful you’re here to be part of it.
